Mary Glenn Keadle

Raised in a small upstate town of South Carolina, I received my first watercolor lessons from my aunt while vacationing on Pawleys Island at age seven. These painting sessions instilled a deep appreciation for nature and art from an early age, and the opportunity to share my work publicly each summer helped shape me as a young artist.

I moved to Charleston in 2007 and earned an M.A. in English through a joint program at the College of Charleston and The Citadel—continuing to paint throughout my studies. You can find my paintings and prints at Charleston Artist Guild Gallery, and my work was recently included in the 2025 Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition at City Gallery.

I create layered, textured pieces using watercolor, gouache, and acrylic. Although most of my work centers on coastal and Lowcountry themes, I often draw inspiration from growing up on a farm and incorporate imagery such as okra, corn, and chickens. I participate in as many shows and exhibitions as possible around Charleston—so if you see me, be sure to stop and say hello!
