Watching fantasy movies with legendary swords was very alluring to me as a little kid, that spurred a passion for the craft. I was in school to be an aircraft mechanic when I connected with my mentor, Jason Knight, a knife maker living in Harleyville. I became his apprentice for six years, sopping up the atmosphere, asking questions, and watching him work. One day, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me to make chef’s knives. So I hit the ground running, cold-calling restaurants and introducing myself to top chefs around Charleston in their kitchens, all with my two kids in a stroller.
