Charleston TinTypist
Charleston TinTypist is a female artist who has been working in the wet-plate collodion process, creating tintype photographs since 2013. She mixes her own chemicals using the same recipes and techniques to make tintypes the exact same way they were made in the 1850s-70s! Based in the greater metro area of Charleston, South Carolina, she honed her skills over the last decade by traveling to living-history events throughout the eastern United States and making portraits outdoors in constantly-changing light conditions and temperature fluctuations..
“I’ve been making photographs and drawing/painting since I was around 11 years old. I did work in film and digital formats before starting this process, mainly in wedding and portrait photography here in Charleston, SC. My art has been exhibited at various art galleries and published in various magazines. Being an artist is a part of my life, and I hope to continue to work at it for many more years to come.”
[Please see my schedule for my upcoming events. Pre-booking in advance is recommended. I have no store-front in Charleston, and do not offer individual portrait sessions except at the events on my schedule. Thank you]
