Lauren Ridenour
As a Charleston maker, my work is deeply connected to the city’s creative energy, blending storytelling, emotion, and craftsmanship. Through my paintings and illustrations, I capture raw, honest moments—whether exploring mental health, motherhood, or the beauty in the mundane. My work is built in layers, both physically and conceptually, reflecting the complexity of emotions and experiences that shape us.
Having a studio at Redux Contemporary Art Center has given me the space to further develop my process while connecting with Charleston’s thriving creative community. Being surrounded by other artists inspires me, and the collaborative energy fuels my practice. For nearly five years, I’ve also been a part of Charleston’s Night Market, sharing my work with locals and visitors who appreciate originality and authenticity. My illustrations and paintings aren’t just about aesthetics; they spark conversations, make people feel seen, and celebrate the imperfect beauty of everyday life—something that feels right at home in Charleston’s rich artistic community.
